It depends on what you are after. The Costa Smeralda around Porto Cervo dominates when it comes to beachfront five-star addresses. In the south, large resort complexes can be found near Santa Margherita di Pula and Chia, while boutique retreats tend to sit on higher ground above the coastline.
May to June and September offer warm sea temperatures, clear skies and quieter beaches – often with more favourable packages and a better chance of an upgrade.
