Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Skostredet Hotel & Spa is a good fit for travellers who want a central Bergen base with somewhere to unwind at the end of the day. It sits by the cathedral, a short walk from the station and slightly away from the busiest tourist streets, and the spa, with its sauna and snow room, is what many guests remember most. They also praise the generous breakfast buffet, the spotless rooms and a friendly team, and the Japanese restaurant and the courtyard garden add to the stay. The weaker points are in the rooms. Several guests found the beds too soft or low, some rooms lack a tea tray, a safe or enough hooks for wet rain gear, and room sizes vary, with a few compact rooms on the upper floors. One room above a bar was noisy late at night. Couples who care most about location, cleanliness and a spa will be well served; light sleepers and anyone who wants a fully equipped room should choose their room carefully.
Guests score it 8.7 out of 10 — the average across the 4 hotels we list in Bergen is 8.9.
What Guests Loved
- The cathedral is a few steps away and the station an easy walk, and guests like that the hotel sits slightly apart from the busiest tourist spots, closer to local neighbourhoods and with many places to eat nearby.
- The spa is a highlight for many guests, who mention the sauna and the snow room in particular, and describe the spa area as calm and very clean.
Things to Consider
- Most guests sleep well, but several found the beds too soft, and some found them very low.
- Some rooms lack a tea and coffee maker or a safe, and guests asked for more hangers and hooks, especially for drying rain gear, and for a bin in the bedroom as well as the bathroom.
Should you book it?
