That rather depends on what you're looking for. Classic beach holidays are best served along the Durrës coastline, quieter resort luxury is found in Lalëz Bay, and a more town-oriented premium feel can be had around Currila and the town centre.
Yes – a private beach or reserved beach area is one of the most common features in Durrës's luxury segment, and forms an integral part of the overall experience.
Both, in truth. Certain hotels are particularly well suited to families, thanks to expansive pool areas and a proper resort set-up, whilst others appeal more to couples seeking spa facilities, quieter surroundings and more private premium categories.
Dedicated adults-only hotels are not the norm, but several resorts do offer adults-only zones or specific room categories with a more secluded, premium feel.
For the destination, the standard is generally very good. The best hotels offer indoor pools, saunas, hammams, massage and well-considered wellness environments that hold up well throughout a longer resort stay.
May, June and September are often the finest months if you wish to combine warm weather, better availability and a more relaxed atmosphere. July and August are the most popular and consequently the busiest.
For the peak summer season, booking at least two to four months ahead is advisable. For suites, sea-view rooms or the most sought-after resorts, booking even earlier is strongly recommended.
It does feature, particularly at the larger resorts, though by no means all luxury hotels operate on that basis. Always check in advance whether breakfast, half-board or spa access is included.
