Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Waldorf Astoria Helsinki is for travellers who value service and calm over a busy address. It sits on a quiet street in Kruununhaka, yet Market Square and the cathedral are within a short walk. The hotel has been recently refurbished, and guests describe elegant interiors, spotless rooms and staff who go out of their way, with the concierge team named again and again. The rooms are spacious, the spa is a favourite, and couples marking an engagement or anniversary say the hotel made the occasion. The weaker points are the breakfast and the extras. Guests call the buffet solid rather than special, sauna and steam-room access carry a daily fee, and laundry is expensive. The spread-out building can also be confusing to navigate. For a refined, quiet stay with excellent service it works very well; if a lavish breakfast and an all-included spa matter most, look elsewhere.
Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 12 hotels we list in Helsinki is 9.1.
What Guests Loved
- The staff are what guests write about most: professional, welcoming and quick to make an occasion special. The concierge team in particular is singled out, and several couples say the hotel made an engagement or anniversary memorable.
- The recent refurbishment shows throughout, and guests describe the decor as sophisticated and the rooms and bathrooms as immaculately clean.
Things to Consider
- Several guests found the breakfast solid but not spectacular, with fewer buffet choices than they expected at this level, and some skipped it because it felt expensive. Dinner in the restaurant gets warmer reviews.
- Guests were surprised that the sauna and steam room carry a daily fee, and laundry and some other services are considered expensive. Value for money is the area where guests are least generous.
Should you book it?
