Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
This property is best for travellers who appreciate a trendy, club-like feel. Hotel Palazzina Grassi is adored by its guests. Situated directly on the Grand Canal, it features contemporary interiors designed by Philippe Starck, an exclusive private pier, and an intimate atmosphere. Be aware that some rooms suffer from limited natural light, and there is no on-site fitness centre or spa.
Guests score it 9.5 out of 10 — the average across the 17 hotels we list in Venice is 9.4.
What Guests Loved
- The hotel offers an exceptional vantage point directly over Venice's main waterway. Guests can watch passing gondolas and water taxis from the terrace or select canal-view suites.
- Renowned designer Philippe Starck curated the interiors, combining custom Murano glass features with sleek, minimalist aesthetics. The design offers a sharp, stylish contrast to Venice's traditional gothic architecture.
Things to Consider
- Due to the historic architecture of the palazzo, a few of the lower-level courtyard rooms can feel somewhat dim. Guests desiring brighter spaces should opt for upper-floor canal-view rooms.
- The historic layout does not accommodate dedicated wellness facilities like a gym or spa. The concierge can easily arrange in-room massage treatments or recommend nearby fitness facilities.
