Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Hotel München Palace is a hotel for travellers who prefer calm and familiarity to being in the middle of everything. It sits on the quiet upper bank of the Isar, a short walk from the English Garden, and the U-Bahn at Max-Weber-Platz takes you to Marienplatz in minutes. Guests talk most about the staff, whose kindness feels personal, and about a breakfast that many count among the highlights of their stay. The house is not large, the rooms are elegant with marble bathrooms, and the winter garden is a favourite corner; many guests have been coming back for years. The trade-offs are modest. Walking to the Altstadt takes around half an hour, dinner in the restaurant is less consistent than breakfast, and some rooms lack small modern comforts such as a coffee machine. Ground-floor rooms can pick up street noise. For a quiet, homely base in Munich, though, it is hard to fault.
Guests score it 8.9 out of 10 — the average across the 8 hotels we list in Munich is 9.0.
What Guests Loved
- Staff are praised in review after review as kind and attentive to every request. Guests describe thoughtful touches such as a fruit basket on arrival, quick room service and exceptional help for a guest using a wheelchair.
- The hotel is not large, and guests repeatedly call it a home from home. Many are regulars who return whenever they are in Munich, some for years, and several mention an old-fashioned, British-style atmosphere they enjoy.
Things to Consider
- The quiet residential location is part of the appeal, but sightseers note that the centre is around half an hour on foot. Most guests take the U-Bahn from Max-Weber-Platz or a taxi instead.
- Breakfast is widely praised, but one regular felt the restaurant's evening menu is pricey and uneven, even if the wine and drinks list is excellent. Value for money is the area where guests are most reserved.
