Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Casa Delfino is for travellers who want Chania's old town on the doorstep rather than a beach. The hotel occupies a restored seventeenth-century Venetian mansion, with a rooftop terrace over the harbour and breakfast in the courtyard. The spa costs extra, the lanes around it are narrow, and parking is limited.
Guests score it 9.4 out of 10 — the average across the 53 hotels we list on Crete is 9.1.

What Guests Loved
- The building's Venetian-era architecture, with original stone details and period features, gives guests a sense of history rarely found in standard hotel accommodations.
- Guests can take in sweeping views over Chania's rooftops and the historic Venetian harbor, making it a memorable spot for morning coffee or evening drinks.
Things to Consider
- While the spa facilities are extensive, access comes at an additional cost rather than being included in the room rate, which may surprise some guests.
- As with much of Chania's old town, the surrounding streets are pedestrian and cobblestoned, meaning luggage transport can require some assistance from staff.

Reviews from Google“Casa Delfino was the perfect place to stay in Chania's Old Town. From the moment we arrived, the family-owned hospitality made us feel genuinely welcome. The staff went above and beyond to help with everything throughout our stay, making every interaction warm and personal. One of the best touches was that they picked us up in a golf cart, so we didn't have to drag our luggage through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town. They also offer convenient off-site parking, which was a huge plus since we had a rental car. Our room was incredibly spacious, beautifully appointed, and exceptionally comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly—which was a lifesaver during the summer heat—and kept the room wonderfully cool. We were also greeted with a thoughtful handwritten welcome note, a small gesture that made our stay feel even more personal and special. Breakfast was absolutely perfection—fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared each morning. It quickly became one of our favorite parts of the day. The staff provided outstanding recommendations for restaurants, beaches, and things to do, and every suggestion was spot on. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our trip. If you're looking for a charming boutique hotel with exceptional service in the heart of Chania's Old Town, Casa Delfino is the place to stay. We would return without hesitation and can't recommend it highly enough.”
“We spent 5 nights at Casa Delfino in Chania Old Town. It was a truly amazing and memorable experience. The hotel is in a quiet part of the town, so while you are close to everything, it feels like an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. All the staff are amazing. Shout out to Eleni from the front desk who always went that extra step on anything we enquired about (dinner reservations, our itinerary for the day) as well to the entire breakfast crew - the breakfasts are amazing; such variety and all so fresh and enticing. Having a dedicated car park was also a big plus, where they are the only hotel in the old town that has a golf buggy that can take you the 5 minutes to and from your car. Definitely recommend this hotel.”
“Casa Delfino was by far our favorite place to stay at. The hotel is lovely, extremely clean, and with stunning marble bathrooms. The terrace and the rooftop terrace are beautiful. It’s been in the family for 6 generations and the owner is absolutely lovely. By now, we’ve stayed in 5 rooms and all the suites are breathtaking. There is a suite with a traditional steam room that is gorgeous and one that directly connects to a private rooftop. The staff is so friendly and the breakfast, by far far far, the best of all our trips in Greece. Thank you.”
“A lovely boutique hotel in Old Town Chania. We visited for our honeymoon and had a great time. The hotel is very welcoming, beautifully decorated and gives an authentic experience. Breakfast was amazing and the staff went above and beyond to help and ensure we were happy. The outdoor courtyard was a nice place to hang out and have some coffee. We did have an issue with the shower drainage in our room. The shower/tub was not draining properly therefore accumulated water after one quick shower. I mentioned this to the staff three times and they claimed to have fixed it, but it was not fixed and the water continued to accumulate. I ended up speaking to a few different staff and mentioned perhaps a plumber would need to be called to look at it. We did receive complimentary drinks on our last night which was a nice touch before saying goodbye to Chania. The location was perfect as we explored the town walking. We were very close to gift shops, restaurants and other amenities. The hotel staff were very kind and booked us a reservation at a local restaurant which was a very nice date night. We also asked for help to arrange a taxi on the last day and they gave us boxed breakfast to go. A nice gesture! Thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon experience special. We can't wait to come back!”
“Absolutely loved our stay here. It’s a beautiful historic mansion in the old town with an amazing atmosphere - the stone arches, multi-level layout, and old-school decor give it so much character. The service was top-notch. Finding a handwritten welcome note from the owner, Margarita, waiting for us in the room was a great touch. The whole team makes you feel incredibly welcome, like a guest in a family home rather than just a room number. Perfect spot with great hospitality.”
