Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
W Koh Samui is about privacy with polish. Every villa has its own pool and deck, the resort sits on a quiet sandy stretch of Mae Nam Beach, and an infinity pool, a beach bar, a spa and free yoga and Muay Thai classes fill the days without leaving the grounds. Guests speak most warmly about the staff, who are mentioned by name in review after review, and about a breakfast many call the highlight of the morning. The trade-offs are mostly about age and price. Some villas are starting to look dated, and a few guests felt the cost was hard to justify, with one disappointed by the spa. The grounds are large, and the restaurants of Fisherman's Village are a taxi ride rather than a walk away. Couples who want space, seclusion and attentive service will find it here; those who like to stroll out for dinner may prefer Bophut itself.
Guests score it 9.2 out of 10 — the average across the 12 hotels we list on Koh Samui is 9.4.
What Guests Loved
- Every villa has its own pool on a large deck, and guests describe the villas as big and beautifully kept, with some overlooking the sea. Several mention that housekeeping comes by more than once a day.
- Staff are praised in nearly every review, from the reception to the beach team and the restaurants, and many guests name individual staff members who made their stay. Problems such as a faulty air conditioner were fixed quickly.
Things to Consider
- A few guests felt the villas are getting a little dated and that a refresh is due soon, even if everything was clean and well maintained.
- Value for money is the area guests rate least highly. Most feel the stay was worth it, but some name the price as the only drawback, and one guest found the spa did not live up to expectations for the level.
