Marriott Mena House, Cairo

“absolutely fantastic location in this amazingly located property. The property grounds are very good. The pool is nice but it’s not heated so in December was a bit too cold to swim. Obviously, the best part is the gorgeous views of the pyramid from the gardens and from the fantastic breakfast that they provide The Servers was the best we felt in our different hotels in Egypt The golf cart provided to the back gate to the pyramids was a fantastic park, but you do need to reserve it the night before Would highly recommend. Obviously on the pricier side based on location and history and service but well worth it.”

“Nice hotel with amazing location. The room is nice and clean. There were a lot of hidden fees and upon checkout it took us nearly 1 hour to decipher the bill. The staff also calls the rooms quite a lot to checkin which is nice but gets tiresome. Staff are looking for constant tips which also gets a bit tiresome. The best part of our stay was the bats in the evening that we enjoyed watching from room terrace. There were many birds in the morning which was lovely until staff chased them away.”

“​Of all the different Marriott properties and brands we've stayed at in Cairo and throughout Egypt, the Mena House was my least favorite. Hence the one star less. ​By no means am I suggesting that people shouldn't stay here. It is, of course, a beautiful property with a great location, especially if you would like to stay close to the pyramids and the new Grand Egyptian Museum area, or enjoy a (partial) pyramid view from your room and various parts of the hotel. ​The interactions with most of the staff were wonderful, especially with the M-Club lounge and breakfast buffet staff. I found their Egyptian hospitality to be authentic; with mutual respect, they treated us as visiting friends instead of just "paying" guests. ​As a reader, you may wonder: why 4 stars instead of 5? ​Well, it truly comes down to the first impression and how our check-in was handled. The difference in service was too noticeable compared to the other stays we've had. It was only when our loyalty status was noticed that the attitude changed. Apologies were given, and all was forgiven, but it did leave a bit of a sour aftertaste. ​Luckily, the delicious aperitifs in the M-Club and the amazing breakfast buffet at the 139 Pavilion restaurant made the rest of the stay great. 😀 ​Kudos to the staff, and may our paths cross again. 🙏🏾 Shukran!”

“We didnt actually stay at Marriot Mena House, however we spent an afternoon here! It has a stunning view of the Great Pyramids of Giza, and offers a tranquil atmosphere. The gardens and water features create such a romantic calming space. We enjoyed some afternoon drinks and an early dinner, soaking up the beauty of it all. We visited in mid Feb, if you would like oufdoor seating you need to book it, wspecially if the weather is on point. There was a Ramedam Banquet option that also looked delicious. The staff were highly hospitable, and the food was delicious. In my opinion Mena House is rare gem and definable worth staying or at least visiting.. The photos I have added dont nearly do it justice ✨️🙌🏻✨️”

“Pros: The location is incredible and we had a partial pyramid view from our terrace. The room was also clean and comfortable with everything you’d expect. Cons: We ordered room service and upon checking out, we noticed they were charging higher prices than marked on the menu and when we pointed this out, they did reduce it but kept the tax and service charges of the original incorrect prices and items we did not have. Additionally they stack the various fees to charge you the maximum amount. There were also frequent phone calls to the room to check if everything was okay that became annoying.”
