Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews

Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels

Electra Palace Athens suits travellers seeking a traditional, wellness-focused base in a historic neighbourhood. It is consistently rated very highly by guests on Google and Booking.com. Standout features include refined neoclassical architecture, an indoor pool, and unobstructed Acropolis views from the rooftop. A potential downside is that the traditional aesthetic may feel overly formal for some, and narrow streets make vehicle access challenging.

Located in the heart of the historic Plaka district, Electra Palace Athens combines classical Greek hospitality with a refined neoclassical aesthetic. The property is well-suited for travelers seeking proximity to ancient landmarks and sophisticated rooftop dining with views of the Acropolis.

Guests score it 9.2 out of 10 — the average across the 7 hotels we list in Athens is 9.3.

The 30-second verdict

  • The rooftop garden and pool area provide a clear line of sight to the Parthenon. This vantage point is particularly effective during evening hours when the ancient citadel is illuminated against the night sky.
  • The property maintains a traditional aesthetic through marble floors, wood paneling, and classical furnishings. This design choice offers a sense of continuity with the heritage of the surrounding neighborhood and Greek history.

“This hotel was perfect! The location is ideal as it is within walking distance to several great places. The rooftop restaurant and bar were awesome and the staff was wonderful. The room was a suite with balcony overlooking the Acropolis. It was really beautiful and well appointed the little touches made it very special. We highly recommend this hotel and we are very picky when it comes to hotels. Loved it!”

“I am in love with this hotel and cannot wait to come back. From the incredible smelling products in each room to the think luxurious towels and bedding, the unbeatable views, refreshing outdoor pool, and simply divine food, I was impressed! As a solo woman traveler I felt safe, respected, and taken care of. The Plaka neighborhood was really fun to walk around and I went out at night without concern to the many bars, restaurants, and nearby sights. You can walk to the Acropolis, all kinds of cute shops, and a few museums. The restaurants are really worth visiting, some of the best food and drink I’ve had so far in Greece (I’m a vegetarian and there are plenty of delightful options)! The only small area I see for improvement is the noise management. It’s a hotel in a European city center, so hallways are narrow and close to your bed. This means it’s easy for noise to seep in. I would suggest they provide white noise machines for guest use and if you plan to visit I recommend you bring ear plugs just in case! Staff was kind, patient, helpful and super knowledgeable. It felt like everyone there genuinely cared about making my stay unforgettable. Became a member and am already plotting my return.”

“The most delightful hotel with the exquisite service. The view from the breakfast is phenomenal. I absolutely loved everything about the room. The beds were so comfortable, and the slippers were soft. I particularly loved the coffee machine and the tea service. The chamomile sent me straight to sleep. I must say the breakfast selection was sublime and the view overlooking the Acropolis thought, provoking and mystical. A big shout out to the friendly team and the spa it was exceptional. I had a massage every day. An Unforgettable Stay at Electra Palace Athens ★★★★★ I can honestly say I would travel 5,000 miles again just for the spa alone. My massage with Iro at the Aegeo Spa was hands-down one of the most incredible spa experiences I’ve ever had skilled, intuitive, and completely restorative. If you book nothing else during your stay, book time with her. Beyond the spa, everything about this hotel was immaculate. The service was attentive and warm from check-in to check-out, the kind of hospitality that makes you feel genuinely taken care of rather than just accommodated. Breakfast was a highlight in its own right not just the quality of the food, but the setting: unbeatable views overlooking the Acropolis made every morning feel special. Electra Palace Athens delivers on every front location, service, dining, and wellness. I’ll be back, and I’ll be requesting Iro again.”

“Great location beautiful hotel excellent service upscale the restaurant is wonderful the view of the Acropolis incredible if you decide to stay here get a room with a balcony overlooking the Acropolis you won't regret it. It's pricey but worth every bit of it. It's like living in today's world but being apart of the beginning of civilization with the Acropolis right above you especially at night absolutely incredible I can't say enough. Again it's pricey but it's worth the price you can pay that much to be in any City hotel and perhaps get a view but in Europe you get a lot of service They appreciate having you. And because we were leaving too early to have our breakfast that was included they gave us a boxed breakfast take to the airport in the morning it was delicious and plentiful.”

“Really disappointed with this stay. I stayed here for four days and paid around €3,000, which I honestly regret. I would not stay here again. The hotel is very central, and the lobby looks nice, but that’s unfortunately the only positive part of the experience. The rooms are extremely noisy — we woke up at least 10 times every night because you can hear absolutely everything. If someone coughs in the next room, you hear it clearly. The hotel is also not well maintained and definitely not worth the price. The furniture feels heavily used, the cleanliness standards were disappointing, and overall it did not feel hygienic. The rooms are also very small for what you pay. Even the bathroom was extremely tiny. My husband could barely move inside it, and one of us had to leave the bathroom for the other person to enter comfortably. For this price range, I would much rather stay slightly outside the city in a cleaner, quieter, and better-maintained hotel with proper service.”
