“Very disappointing experience for a hotel that is supposed to be 5 stars. We stayed at Constantinos The Great Beach Hotel for our honeymoon, and unfortunately the experience was far below what we expected. I was staying with my pregnant wife, so cleanliness, comfort and a good night’s sleep were especially important to us. We paid for a sea view room, but were given a side sea view room instead. At reception we were also told that, because we were on our honeymoon, we would receive a fruit basket and drinks, but we never received either. We arrived early in the morning and nobody even opened the entrance barrier for us. We had to walk to the entrance ourselves and look for the reception staff. Communication was also difficult due to their limited English. The room had numerous problems. Bed linen is changed every three days, and on several occasions we found stains on the sheets and pillowcases. Some of the linen was torn as well. The curtains were also visibly dirty and stained. We saw small yellow ants in the room more than once. The bathroom tap was tilted, the shower glass was positioned so badly that water ended up all over the bathroom floor, and the electrical system clearly had issues. The lights would turn on and off by themselves and the curtains would open and close on their own. The food was another major disappointment. For a hotel of this category, we expected a much better selection and quality, but unfortunately the food was simply not good. To make things worse, there was loud music from the hotel terrace late into the evening, making it difficult to sleep. We didn’t expect perfection, but this is simply not the standard we expected from a 5-star hotel. There were too many basic problems with cleanliness, maintenance, service and food throughout our stay. Considering that this was supposed to be our honeymoon, the whole experience was especially disappointing. Based on our experience, I would seriously think twice before booking this hotel. Honestly, this hotel might deserve 3 stars — and even that would be generous.”

“Definitely not a modern 5 star hotel. The rooms are ok but not cleaned properly. The lighting is trying to be high tech but it doesn’t work properly, If done correctly, could be good. Water pressure in the shower was terrible. The decor in the hotel gives a good impression but is very dated. Staff not particularly helpful at reception, talk to you like your an inconvenience. Extra charge for late check out. No plug for hairdryer in room, have to ask reception for the adaptor. The selection of food for the meals isn’t very varied. Flys all over the cold meats at breakfast. Breakfast also ends at 10am which is early when on holiday. The location is nice on the beach and the pool area was nice, the water was really cold!”

“We spent three nights at Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel as a family, and overall we were very happy with our stay. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff made us feel welcome. The service throughout the hotel was friendly and professional, and everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The hotel itself was also clean, with staff constantly taking care of the common areas, which we really appreciated. The animation team deserves a special mention—they were fun, energetic and genuinely friendly, creating a lovely atmosphere for both children and adults. The food was delicious, with a good variety and plenty of tasty options throughout our stay. The location is also fantastic, just steps away from a beautiful beach and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. The only real downside was the Wi-Fi, which was unfortunately too unreliable for working remotely. In the end, though, it probably encouraged us to disconnect and enjoy our holiday a little more. If I compare it to the highest European five-star standards, I would probably rate it closer to a very good 3, maybe 4 star hotel rather than a luxury five-star resort. However, for Cyprus, we felt it offered excellent value for the money and a genuinely enjoyable experience. After seeing what some other local four-star hotels have to offer, we appreciated our stay here even more. Overall, we had a lovely family holiday that met our expectations, and we would happily return and recommend Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel to anyone visiting Protaras.”

“We recently spent two nights at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience. While it is a 5-star establishment, it is important to have the right expectations. The Highlights: Exceptional Service: The standout feature was the incredible politeness of every single staff member. A special thank you for the free upgrade to a sea-view room during check-in; it was a lovely gesture that we truly appreciated! Value for Money: The prices across all hotel facilities are very affordable. Both the breakfast and the buffet meals were very decent and high quality. Location: The hotel is situated in an excellent location, which is one of its strongest points. A Fair Assessment: The hotel is housed in a beautiful building, but it does show visible signs of wear and tear due to its age. The rooms are simple—perfectly adequate for the area—but they lack modern luxury. Important Note: If you arrive with extremely high expectations for a brand-new luxury resort, you will certainly find things to criticize. However, based on the price we paid, the experience was fully worth it and met our expectations completely. Thank you for your hospitality!”

“Huge hotel, good location by the sea, spacious rooms. We stayed for 5 days, overall it was okay. The food was average and more like quantity over quality and don’t expect good coffee, even if we had one in the lobby in a bar it was quite bad and very expensive. On the other hand, drinks in the lobby were good and not so expensive. Rooms were okay, we had beautiful view of the beach but one of our group members had troubles with very noisy neighbours and couldn’t sleep at night, the walls were very thin. The staff tried to help her solve this problem though. The hotel is very big but has only 2 small elevators so sometimes it takes long to move around, you can use stairs but for those who cannot this was a bit annoying and we weren’t even there in peak season when the hotel is full. The pool and beach area were the best part of the hotel I would say, just few steps from the hotel. We also tried the gym, it’s very simply but good enough as many hotels don’t event have one. We also had a baby in the group and the hotel seemed child-friendly. Location was good, we came from Larnaca with a shuttle company and right next to the hotel is a busy street with shops, restaurants, bars and everything you need.”

What guests actually say

Tripplo’s analysis uses a sample of 30 guest reviews. Texts may be shortened. Mentions are counted after automated classification and describe the sample, rather than every guest’s experience.

The sample follows how Booking.com and Google sort reviews, which puts satisfied guests first, so criticism is under-represented. Read the drawbacks below and the latest reviews on Booking.com before you book.
