In short: Tripplo’s analysis covers a sample of 58 guest reviews of Baros Maldives. Guests in the sample highlight Service & staff, Location and Food & restaurants. The most common complaints: Expensive overall, especially the restaurants. The resort feels dated in places and needs updating.
Baros Maldives is a small island close to Male’ city set in a turquoise lagoon with villas secluded in palm-shaded glades by a white sandy beach or perched over-water with private sun deck. Many of the elegant, sandstone and timber, palm-thatched villas have their own plunge pool and some have a spa bath too.
Every villa is private, has an espresso machine and a wine and mini-bar; in-villa entertainment includes a flat-screen TV and iPod dock. Guests can pamper themselves at the Spa or take a dip in the overwater infinity pool. Water sports and yoga are available; the resort also has a library lounge and free in-room WiFi.
A Villa Host is on call around the clock providing a discreet, personalised service making every stay hassle-free. The resort has both an EcoDive and a Marine Centre.
Three restaurants cater for fine dining, sea-food and Asian delicacies and private dining can be arranged in-villa, on an isolated sandbank or on a deck over the lagoon. The Sails Bar serves drinks all day under the palms and there is a sea-view evening cocktail and cigar lounge.
Room service is available for 24 hour.
Baros Maldives is a 25-minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport. Airport transfer is available at a charge.
Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Baros Maldives is built for couples, since the resort operates on an adults-only basis and offers round-the-clock personal Villa Host service alongside private villas with plunge pools. It sits close to Malé airport, cutting transfer time compared with more remote atoll resorts, and the dedicated EcoDive and Marine Center suits guests keen on diving. The island itself is small, which limits the scope for long walks, and overwater villas are priced at a premium within the resort's own range. Families are excluded by the adults-only policy, so this is a choice for couples or solo travellers rather than group trips.
Guests score it 9.5 out of 10 — the average across the 8 hotels we list on North Malé Atoll is 9.5.
What Guests Loved
- Many sandstone and timber villas feature private plunge pools, some with spa baths, giving guests a secluded retreat within palm-shaded glades or over the lagoon.
- A Villa Host is on call at all hours, arranging everything from dining reservations to excursions, which removes friction from daily logistics during the stay.
Things to Consider
- As an adults-only property, families with children cannot book, which narrows the guest profile to couples, honeymooners and solo travelers seeking a quieter atmosphere.
- Over-water villas with sun decks and infinity-edge features are priced at a premium, so travelers on tighter budgets may find beach villas a more accessible alternative.
