Axel Hernborg
Axel Hernborg is the founder of Tripplo and is responsible for the content on all eight sites in the network. He lives in Stockholm and runs Tripplo through his company, Rank High AB.
From a trip to Milan to a luxury hotel guide
Tripplo began in early 2014, after a trip to Milan where Axel couldn't find information about the city in one place. The site started out as vadkanmangöra.se, then became tripwise.se, with travel tips and discounts. Today it is Tripplo, a guide that compares only luxury hotels, in English, Swedish, German, Danish, Norwegian, Dutch, Finnish and French.
Before Tripplo, Axel worked in e-commerce. Alongside the site, he works with investments.
Travels
Axel has visited more than 30 countries. The place he returns to most often is Corfu, where his mother-in-law is from, and he has stayed at several of the island's hotels. His favourites are Grecotel Eva Palace and Grecotel Corfu Imperial.
What Axel does in the guides
Axel decides which destinations and hotels Tripplo covers and what a hotel has to meet to be included. He reads the guides and is responsible for corrections. The criteria are the same for every hotel: five-star standard or the international equivalent, guest ratings that hold up over time, and a location that makes the stay better.
The assessments rest on sources you can check: the hotels' own information, guest ratings from Booking.com and Google, and a sample of guest reviews compiled to show what guests keep coming back to. Where a detail has been checked, the guide says where it comes from and when it was read. Axel has not visited every hotel we assess, and the guides never claim he has. That is why every guide shows its sources, so you can see for yourself what a recommendation rests on.
Tripplo earns money when someone books through our links. It never affects which hotels are included or the order they appear in.
